Mentor Geeks
Who is a Mentor Geek?
With the donated system upgraded, Mentor Geeks step in and personally deliver the refurbished computer to the Little Geek’s home and help to install Internet connections and troubleshoot. Mentor Geeks should have a good knowledge of computer installation, software and Internet use including Internet safety for children. They should be able to relate well to children and feel comfortable teaching them.
What do they do?
Mentor Geeks are responsible for delivering the computer to the Little Geek's home, installation, setting up free Internet access, and showing Little Geeks the basics, including how to use the computer and Internet safety for children. After installation, the Mentor Geek will provide telephone and email tech support to their assigned Little Geek. The minimum time commitment for this position is six months.
Repair Geeks
Who is a Repair Geek?
Repair Geeks take over and prepare the Donor Geek's computer for the Little Geek. A Repair Geek is someone who possesses extensive computer knowledge. They must be able to install software, components, and troubleshoot all aspects of the computer system.
What do they do?
Repair Geeks repair, refurbish and prepare the donated computers to be given to Little Geeks. This includes upgrading components if necessary, erasing the hard drive and installing software. You will be required to prepare a minimum of ten computers within a 90-day period.
