Little Geeks: Board of Directors

The Little Geeks Board of Directors meets monthly and guides the Foundation on issues of concern to the public. The board members also reach out to the community to assist the Foundation staff to obtain the resources needed for Little Geeks. Currently, the Little Geeks Board of Directors is made up of five individuals drawn from the technology and business communities.

Board of Directors

 

Howard Bishansky – Chair

Howard has been active in the high technology industry in North America for over 20 years. From business development consulting to sales to product management and currently Global Alliances, Howard has seen every aspect of the hardware and software industry. He has worked with companies such as Hummingbird, KeyLink/Agilisys, and eBridge. Presently, he is at Business Objects where he began in sales to the U.S. federal government and then moved into the Global Alliances team responsible for Deloitte, IBM, Teradata, BearingPoint to name a few. Howard was one of the original founders of reBOOT Canada and served on their board of directors for three years. He is proud to be part of Little Geeks and hopes his experience can help make a difference.

 

Michael Bishansky – Student Liaison Officer

Michael Bishansky is the Student Liaison officer on the board. He is a high-school student with a keen interest in computers and helping others less fortunate than himself. He recognizes the importance of the computer in his life, having grown up in a generation where he was playing with a mouse before he could walk. Michael helps to recruit fellow students who wish to offer assistance to Little Geeks, and offer valuable guidance to the Board from a valuable “little geek” perspective. In this role, Michael also serves as the editor of the Little Geeks newsletter. In Michael's spare time he plays hockey and DJ's with Gary G.

 

 

 

Leslie Weisz – Board Member

Leslie has a long and accomplished career in various aspects of business. He started his career in the early days of IT after earning a B. Sc. (Mathematics) from Sir George Williams University (now Concordia) and an MBA (finance) from McGill, both in Montreal. Since then, he has lived various careers, most notably in banking, manufacturing, distribution and management consulting. He is currently a mortgage planner with Mortgage Architectsin Toronto..

Leslie has two grown children and lives with his partner in Toronto.

 

 

Angela Carmichael – Board Member

Angela Carmichael is Senior Vice President at Fleishman-Hillard in Toronto. She has over 10 years of public relations experience working in both the corporate and agency side of the business. She spent most of her career working on top enterprise technology accounts including IBM, Microsoft, and Dell. Angela worked in enterprise software sales for IBM Canada and also spent three years working in public relations for IBM, launching new products and initiatives for the company’s software and pervasive computing divisions. Angela holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Acadia University in Wolfville, N.S. and a Bachelor of Public Relations degree from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Angela joined the Little Geeks Board of Directors in November 2007 and is most excited about the positive impact Little Geeks has on the life long learning of children who otherwise would not have access to computers and Internet technology.
